Sanctuary Shows the Adorable Makeovers Their Animals Get for Warm Weather

There's just something about the first warm day of the year, right? Maybe it's the sun or the fact that summer is just around the corner, but the good weather really does help. That's true for the animals at The Gentle Barn too and now the animal rescue is sharing a video of their animals getting ready for the change in season.

The Gentle Barn went through the many ways they get their animals "summer ready" in a sweet video online.

We guess it must be like the urge to clean your house the first time that the weather changes because The Gentle Barn gave everyone a little refresh. The clip shows just a handful of the fun tasks they've done for their more than 200 animals at their locations. Like giving the pigs fresh fruits and vegetables for snacks, trimming horse hooves, giving their llama a haircut, making sure that their animals had adequate sun protection, and making sure that their animals got some great dental care. Also cookies! Lots and lots of cookies.

Honestly, it seems like all the animals are living their best lives and people online were so grateful to the organization. "You’re my favorite kind of humans, [love] for you and all your precious residents," wrote one person. "They all look so happy and well cared for," another commenter added. "You guys have a very special farm, full of love and respect," a third person chimed in.

Ways to Help The Gentle Barn

In the caption of the video, the rescue, which has locations in California, Tennessee, and Missouri, explained that spring is an exciting time — but also a time when they need extra funding to get their animals in tip top shape.

"These costs add up across all three locations—and they're continuing to rise—but as a nonprofit farm animal sanctuary, we make a promise to every animal we rescue that they'll live the best lives after surviving trauma, abuse, and heartbreak," they wrote in the caption. One of the ways you can help The Gentle Barn is by donating directly to them via Venmo @TheGentleBarn.

You can also go to The Gentle Barn website where they list the many expenses they have. The expenses really add up. In total the organization needs about $100,000 to cover their needs, which is a lot of money. But as the rescue proves, the funding would really help them give their animals the best life.
