How This San Diego Skater And Coffee Shop Owner Thrived After A Serious Back Injury (Video)

After breaking his back and dislocating his hip (and being told he had plantar fasciitis in both of his feet) things naturally slowed down for Cano Cardenas—a local San Diego skater, coffee shop owner and all-around rad human.

As a devoted skateboarder, Cano has always pushed the boundaries, so he knows a thing or two about abusing his feet and body. But the constant impact and strain led to persistent foot pain.

Sometimes it's the little things—the stuff we overlook and neglect—but in this new video from Remind Insoles, Cano expresses how he found an incredible amount of support to not only help him recover, but truly thrive post-injury with the help of their insoles.

Admittedly, like many skaters, I also neglect my feet more than I should. But why? There are a handful of insole companies out there as well, each boasting their own benefits, but it's interesting to hear how Cano has utilized Remind in a somewhat therapeutical way for the past decade—whether he's skating, running his coffee shop, exercising...whatever it may be.

“They’re one-hundred percent the main reason I’m able to stand on my feet for 16 hours a day," says Cano. “And not be hurting the next day.”

Press play if you haven't yet and witness Cano's journey of resilience. Next time you hit the skatepark or the streets, don't forget to think about your feet!

And here's some classic Cano clips for ya before you leave!
