Samoyed's 'Weird Things' She Does While Sleeping Are So Relatable to Pet Parents

I'll be the first to admit it: every dog owner is guilty of watching their furry friend sleep purely because it's so darn cute. In fact, I'd be lying if I said I didn't have at least a thousand pictures on my phone of my dogs fast asleep. They just look so sweet and innocent while they're catching Z's!

Sometimes, though, dogs do something especially cute while they're out. Whether they're flapping their paws or barking in their sleep, I just can't help wondering what they're dreaming about. And then I take a picture, of course! I know there are thousands of other dog owners who can relate, but a recent video from Nube the Samoyed about the 'weird things' she does while sleeping has me smiling all over again. Dogs' shenanigans while sleeping while never get old!

LMAO! This gal clearly has lots of dreams if her owner is able to get so many videos like this. I'm most used to seeing one of my sleeping dogs flapping their paws like they're dog paddling, but I occasionally spot a few seconds of 'swimming' here and there. Even though my Siberian Husky sleeps on his back, I've never seen any 'aerobics' before!

Clearly, I'm not the only one who found this Samoyed dog's sleeping incredibly entertaining. Other dog owners chimed in about the swimming and piano playing that their pups have accomplished, while others speculated whether this is a breed thing. Samoyeds are definitely high-energy dog breeds who love to run and play, so it just may be that they dream about these activities, too.

What do Dogs Sleeping Positions Mean?

Whether or not your dog moves around in their sleep, you can actually tell a lot by your pup's sleeping position. A dog who sleeps on their back, or even on the side when Nube was doing aerobics, may be trying to cool off--or they could just be extremely comfortable! Exposing their belly is a vulnerable thing for a dog to do, so you can pat yourself on the back if your pup feels safe enough to do this.

If a dog sleeps curled up, however, they could be seeking warmth or security. This canine sleep position makes it quick and easy for them to get up, too, so your dog is more likely to curl up for a quick nap or a cold winter's night.

When your dog is sleeping flat on their side, they're most likely to move around. This happens when a dog is in REM sleep and can act out their dreams while still asleep. As Nube proved, it's an adorable thing some dogs do, and it's no reason to be concerned!
