  • Duchess Meghan’s sister, Samantha Markle, thinks her decision to step down as a senior royal is a “slap in the face.”

  • Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, has said he’s “disappointed.”

Welp, guess this was inevitable. Meghan Markle’s controversial half-sister, Samantha Markle, has weighed in on Meghan and Prince Harry’s major decision to step down as senior royals, and surprise, surprise, she has a lot of thoughts.

Speaking to Inside Edition, Samantha said, “It is a slap in the face. I think what is shocking is the lack of consideration for the people involved, the British royal family, the promises that were originally made to honor royal duties and to lead by example.”

She continued, “They stepped into the spotlight knowing what the duties were, knowing what the media would be like for them. If she wanted to be so private, she wouldn’t have sat at Wimbledon with 40 empty seats around her.”

This strong point of view is somewhat ironic considering Meghan and Samantha seemingly haven’t been in touch and Samantha presumably doesn’t know what the duchess has been going through. Furthermore, Harry and Meghan made it abundantly clear that they plan to honor the queen and their current patronages.

“We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen,” they said in their Instagram statement, later adding, “We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages.”

FYI, Meghan’s dad, Thomas Markle, has also spoken out, saying to Us Weekly, “I’ll just simply say I’m disappointed.”
