Samantha Markle Clapped Back at Critics Saying Thomas Markle Is in it For the Money

Having exhausted her resources criticizing Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's holiday card, estranged sister and perpetual fountain of pre-royal knowledge Samantha Markle took a stance on her father. According to E! News, Samanta defended her dad's statements on Good Morning Britain as Twitter users slammed him for continuing to use his strained relationship with Meghan to rake in big bucks.

"He wasn't paid more on if you read or listen to the interview," she wrote in response to the accusations. "He did reach out privately to exhaust. But this woman thinks it's cool to ghost an entire family, best friend of 30 years, ex-husband who treated her very well, and trade everyone out for the Royals and Clooneys."

During his time on the show, Thomas claimed that Markle "ghosted" him. He used the appearance as a way to reach out to her, he said, since she's ignored his other attempts. He mentioned that the holidays are supposed to be about family — royal or not.

"I love you very much. You're my daughter and I'd really like to hear from you," he said. "Whatever differences we have, we should be able to work them out. We're family. So, please reach out to me. All families, royal or otherwise, are the same and should be together at the holidays. [...] I've apologized a hundred times for that. I don't feel that's worthy of being shunned or ghosted. That is ridiculous."

Twitter users slammed the remark, saying that he was using his daughter's fame as a platform for himself. Thomas hasn't been quiet about the lack of relationship between him and Meghan. He's appeared on TV and given interviews numerous times to explain the situation, but there's been no official statement from the palace about it. Samantha came to her father's defense, saying that social media users were misinformed. Piers Morgan reiterated that stance: he tweeted that Thomas "received no payment."

"He was not paid for this and has turned down $50,000 interviews left and right over the last year," she said. "Take your ignorant butt cheeks and get them back in bed. Watching television is not a good thing for you."
