Samantha Bee has issued an apology following a controversial monologue on her late-night talk show, during which she used a vulgarity to describe Ivavka Trump.

"I would like to sincerely apologize to Ivanka Trump and to my viewers for using an expletive on my show to describe her last night," Bee said in a statement issued Thursday to The Daily Beast. "It was inappropriate and inexcusable. I crossed a line, and I deeply regret it."

During Wednesday's episode of Full Frontal With Samantha Bee, Bee ended a segment about the Trump administration's treatment of illegal immigrants by telling Ivanka Trump to "do something about your dad's immigration practices", and called her a "feckless c**t".

The remark quickly drew outrage from conservative media and from the White House, with press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders condemning it as "vile and vicious... [Bee's] disgusting comments and show are not fit for broadcast, and executives at Time Warner and TBS must demonstrate that such explicit profanity about female members of this administration will not be condoned on its network.” President Trump, characteristically, took to Twitter to suggest that Bee should be fired:

Per The Hollywood Reporter, two advertisers announced plans to pull sponsorship from Bee's show. AutoTrader.com said on Twitter Thursday that "the comments expressed by Samantha Bee were offensive and unacceptable and do not reflect the views of our company," the brand said on Twitter. "As a result, we have suspended our sponsorship of Full Frontal With Samantha Bee."

Later on Thursday, State Farm issued a similar statement: "As part of our overall advertising with TBS, our ad did appear last night. "We have asked TBS to suspend our advertising in the program and are reviewing any future placements. We constantly review programs to ensure alignment to our programming guidelines and brand values.”
