More than 11,000 pounds of ready-to-eat charcuterie meat has been recalled across eight states due to a potential Salmonella contamination. Busseto Foods issued a recall for its Charcuterie Sampler, which includes Prosciutto, Sweet Sopressata, and Dry Coppa, that was sold at Sam’s Club stores in late 2023.

Busseto Foods Charcuterie Sampler Recalled in 8 States

The recalled ready-to-eat meat comes in an 18-ounce plastic tray twin-pack labeled Busseto Foods Charcuterie Sampler. All recalled products will bear the lot code “L075330300,” the best-if-used-by date of April 27, 2024, and the establishment number “EST. 7543B.” You can find label photos on the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s site.

The recalled charcuterie sampler was sold at Sam’s Clubs in Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Texas. No other Busseto Foods products are impacted by this recall.

Busseto Foods issued this recall after the Minnesota Department of Agriculture found Salmonella contamination in an unopened package of Busseto Foods’ charcuterie sampler. The outbreak is currently under investigation by the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and public health officials.

FSIS did not state if any illnesses have been reported. However, if you are concerned about illness—or believe you have a foodborne illness—you should contact your healthcare provider.

If you do have the recalled meat, you should not consume it. Instead, throw it away or return it to the place of purchase.

Eating food contaminated with Salmonella can cause salmonellosis, which can lead to a severe illness that may require hospitalization. The most common symptoms include fever, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea—and the illness typically goes away within four to seven days without treatment. However, in some severe cases, especially for older individuals, children, and people with weakened immune systems, salmonellosis can develop into a more serious illness that requires hospitalization.

If you have any questions about the recall, you can contact the Busseto Recall Hotline at 866-552-4916.
