Sam's Club Resurrects the Polish Hot Dog After It Was Tossed by Costco

The Polish hot dog lives on, y’all!

On the heels of Costco’s controversial announcement that its stores would be nixing the beloved sauerkraut-strewn dog from their food court menus in favor of healthier options, a rival big box store is stepping up in a big way.

After a fierce public outcry and a social media avalanche of despair, Sam’s Club revealed last week that it would #SaveThePolishDog by adding it to all of its café menus starting July 23.

"About 200 Sam's Club cafés already have the Polish dog on the menu, but this popular treat is being added to all locations so people everywhere can get their fix!" Sam's Club said in a statement to Business Insider.

"Let them eat Polish dogs," the brand joked on Twitter.

Not only will the Sam’s Club’s version of the Polish dog retail for just 99 cents (50 cents less than its Costco predecessor), fans of the frank don’t need to be a member to dine at the retailer’s food court.

Coincidence? Hardly. A Sam's Club representative confirmed to Today that their addition of the Polish dog was indeed a direct response to its removal from Costco’s menu.

"Yes, Sam’s Club wanted to make sure people everywhere could get their Polish dog fix and at a great value," the representative said.

So, Sam’s Club it is!
