Salvation Army serves it up

HENDERSON — The Salvation Army on Ross Mill Road held its second annual pancake breakfast on March 2.

The eight staff members — including Captains Amanda and Josh Keaton — served up some 120 plates of perfectly cooked pancakes and grits, eggs, bacon and sausage — all for $10 to raise funds for the Red Shield Clubs of Henderson.

According to its website, The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Clubs of North and South Carolina have been offering programs and services that exemplify and actively practice Christian principles for more than 85 years.

The Henderson after-school and summer camp programs for some 85 and 125 kids respectively, focus on character and education, career, leadership and spiritual development, health and life skills, the arts, sports and fitness, all in order to “empower youth to support and influence their club and community, sustain meaningful relationships with others, develop a positive self-image, participate in the democratic process” and more.
