How Salsa Jeans Uses MySize Tech to Improve Fit, Consistency

The denim industry is getting an artificial intelligence (AI) upgrade.

Omnichannel e-commerce platform and provider of AI-driven measurement solutions, MySize, recently announced results from its latest pilot implementation, Smart Catalogue.

The software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution was created to help designers create patterns that optimize fit, reduce unsold items and improve economics for fashion brands and retailers, according to the Israeli company. Smart Catalogue provides designers with demographic and location-specific data about customer body morphology and fit preferences.

The pilot was conducted with Salsa Jeans, a Portuguese women’s and men’s brand and customer of Smart Catalogue’s size recommendation platform, Naiz Fit.

“Smart Catalogue is at the forefront of addressing a clear need in the market for data-driven solutions that address apparel fit issues at its source: during the design phase,” Ronen Luzon, MySize founder and CEO, said in a statement. “We’re empowering and supporting the creatives in the fashion industry by informing their intuition with data.”

During the pilot, 342 tests were conducted with 31 patterns on 32 people with different body shapes, matching the brand’s target customers of women between 30-50, according to Smart Catalogue. AI tools—including ChatGPT—were used for data capture and analysis of test results and comments.

Salsa Jeans then utilized Smart Catalogue capabilities to check its jeans collection’s size consistency across several factors, including testing for uniformity with a customer’s stated size.

The SaaS solution also provided Salsa Jeans insights on which size ranges to offer at its different brick-and-mortar locations based on demographic data.

With the continued use of Smart Catalogue, Salsa said it plans on gathering additional insights and data for e-commerce sales in addition to building AI models to help its design department create new collections powered by data.

“We were very pleased to work [with] Salsa Jeans and provide data that will inform their future designs, ultimately leading to even better brand loyalty, fewer returns and a cleaner environment for all,” Luzon said in a statement.

Other brands are using MySize to improve their business.

In 2021, The Turkish subsidiary of Levi Strauss & Co. applied MySize’s proprietary AI-driven sizing technology, MySizeID, to its Dockers brand after a previous year of “proven success” with Levi’s. In 2022, Los Angeles-based denim label 7 For All Mankind inked a deal to license MySizeID to help consumers in Brazil find their size.
