Salomon Announces Dates For The Quality Ski Time Film Tour

The Quality Ski Time Film Tour, Salomon's annual tour, is hitting the road in the near future on October 3rd.

The North American tour features five short films starring athletes like Josh Daiek, Cody Townsend, Stan Rey, Claire McPherson, and Mali Noyes. I'd list every skier and production company involved, but that'd probably be an exhausting read because this tour is jam-packed with skiing goodness.

The multi-film tour is a somewhat new innovation in the ski world. For years, the standard was one night and one film, a status quo that shifted as the ski film production barriers to entry dissolved alongside the dominance of a few ski movie houses. Gone are the days of helicopters and enormous film cameras being prerequisites for creating a ski movie.

In this vacuum, the number of high-production value ski movies produced each season has exploded -- a boon to us skiing fans craving something that differs from the standard ski film formula.

The Quality Ski Time Tour exemplifies this changing guard, serving up the ski movie equivalent of a multi-course, tastefully plated meal. With this commitment to variety comes an opportunity for expanded skier representation. Salomon hopes that at the Quality Ski Time Tour, every kind of skier will find at least one of the films relatable.

"Traditional ski movies have always focused on the same type of skier," says Salomon's Alpine Marketing Manager Joe Johnson. "Our goal with the film tour is to deliver multiple films showcasing different athletes, storylines, and types of skiing in order to offer a unique, relatable experience for every member of the family."

But that doesn't mean the Tour's doing away with every ski movie tradition: athletes will be on scene to meet moviegoers and sign posters, and there's loads of swag, from plane tickets to a truckload of Salomon gear, up for grabs at each stop.

"This year's tour is going to be better and bigger than ever - now with stops in Canada, Europe, and on the East Coast," says film tour manager and Salomon athlete Drew Petersen. "My favorite part of the film tour is the opportunity to meet passionate fans and skiers. I walk away from every show feeling deeply connected to the community and increasingly excited for the snow to fall. My goal with every show is to create an atmosphere that makes every single attendee feel the same."

Ticket proceeds from the tour go directly to Protect Our Winters, a non-profit dedicated to fighting climate change. Last season, Salomon used the Quality Ski Time Tour to donate $10,000 to POW. This season, they plan on doubling that number.
