Salma Hayek is very impressed with Lady Gaga's acting chops.

Hayek, 54, and Gaga, 35, costar in the upcoming true crime drama, House of Gucci, which filmed on location in Italy earlier this year. The movie, which is based on the 2001 book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed by Sara Gay Forden, focuses on the trial and conviction of Patrizia Reggiani (played by Gaga) for her role in the 1995 murder-for-hire of her ex-husband Maurizio Gucci (played by Adam Driver). For historical context, Maurizio Gucci was the grandson of Guccio Gucci, who founded the luxury fashion house, and he served as head of the company himself for a decade, from 1983 until 1993, when he sold his stake in the renowned fashion house.

In a new interview with Variety, Hayek, who plays Giuseppina "Pina" Auriemma in the Ridley Scott-helmed film, had nothing but incredible things to say about her singer-turned-actress costar.

"We were talking on the phone and she was already Patrizia," Hayek said of her early talks with Gaga before the cast flew to Italy to begin production on the highly-anticipated drama. "Her accent was perfect."

Hayek went on to describe Gaga as "incredibly talented, incredibly smart."

"And she has on top of all that, extra abilities that not every brilliant actor has, which is she's good with the accent. Of course, she has an amazing ear. She is extraordinary improvising, and not everybody has that. She really embodies the character," Hayek explained (per People). "Her level of commitment—I've only seen maybe once or twice somebody commit to a character like she does. And she's also a great team player."

House of Gucci is set to be released November 24, 2021.
