Saks Off 5th Names Kim Miller Chief Marketing and Analytics Officer

Saks Off 5th has named Kim Miller chief marketing and analytics officer, in another move this year by the luxury off-pricer to rebuild the executive team and get a better handle on the preference of shoppers.

“At Saks Off 5th, we remain steadfast on our journey of customer centricity. Investing in and building improved capabilities around our data and analytics teams is imperative to unlocking a deeper understanding of our customer,” Rob Brooks, president and chief executive officer of SaksOff5th.com, said in a statement Thursday. Miller’s appointment comes as the luxury off-price retailer seeks to bolster personalization and loyalty efforts.

Miller’s role at Saks Off 5th carries broad responsibilities. For both the Saks Off 5th stores and e-commerce operations, which are separate companies, Miller will oversee customer analytics, insights and engagement, personalization and loyalty, growth marketing, corporate strategy and business development. She will serve as a member of the Saks Off 5th executive leadership team and report directly to Brooks.

Miller succeeds Sara Griffin who only last June moved into the role of chief marketing and analytics officer but in August left Saks Off 5th to pursue a new opportunity, according to the company.

The management shakeup at Off 5th began last March when Brooks was promoted from president of the Off 5th stores to CEO of SaksOff5th.com in the wake of the departure of Paige Thomas.

Last June, Mara Sirhal became chief merchant and brand officer to oversee buying, planning and creative functions. She was executive vice president, brand president for the Bed Bath & Beyond and Harmon Beauty businesses. Julie Mares, who joined SaksOff5th.com in February as senior vice president of e-commerce, expanded her responsibilities to digital operations, site monetization and drop shipping. With the reorganization, Molly Taylor, chief merchant, and Shivi Shankaran, chief operating officer, left Off 5th.

In its announcement Thursday, Off 5th indicated that Miller has more than 20 years of experience within fashion, retail and e-commerce; extensive omnichannel expertise, and a digital mindset.

Miller previously served as CEO of Boutique Brands, an organization that invests in online boutique retailers focused on women’s apparel. Prior to that, Miller was chief marketing officer for Rakuten, senior vice president of e-commerce for Charlotte Russe and, earlier, served in the same role at Philosophy Inc. She also held positions at Macy’s and HP.

“Saks Off 5th has a unique opportunity to lead in the luxury off-price market by focusing on making data-driven decisions to build upon strong customer loyalty through personalization initiatives,” said Miller in a statement.

In 2021, HBC split the Saks Off 5th stores and e-commerce operations into separate companies, and Insight Partners invested $200 million in Saks Off 5th, becoming a minority owner, and placing a $1 billion value on the company at the time. HBC also separated the Saks Fifth Avenue brand into separate stores and e-commerce companies, and its Hudson Bay division in Canada into separate stores and e-commerce companies.
