“Background actors should be paid for each episode they are employed in during a single day.”

This was one of the proposals SAG-AFTRA (The Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) took to AMPTP (Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers) in attempts to hash out an agreement regarding working practices across the film and TV industry.

AMPTP met the proposal with one word: “Rejected.”

It’s just one of several rejected proposals from a long list of deal points, a list recently revealed in a tweet by actress Senta Moses. She's best known for playing Tracy McCallister in Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

AMPTP also rejected proposals for casts to receive more revenue from streaming platforms. As SAG-AFTRA put forward: “Casts share in the revenue generated when their performances are exhibited on streaming platforms. This would allow casts to share in the success of high-performing shows,” to which the AMPTP answered “Rejected.”

With rejections and counter-proposals on the list far outweighing the amount of points “tentatively agreed” to, it looks like negotiations are going to continue for a while yet.

It follows news of a top Hollywood exec who made half a billion between 2018 and 2022. All US movies and TV shows are currently on hiatus as the actors and writers’ strikes continue.
