Sad Greyhound Left Behind on Adoption Day Is Breaking Everyone's Hearts

The life of a shelter dog definitely isn't easy, but many sweet rescue animals are beloved by the staff and volunteers who care for them. It always warms my heart to see a pup getting special treatment while they wait for their forever homes, and this scene from an Australian Greyhound rescue is no exception.

Speedy is just one of over 500 retired racing Greyhounds across Australia who are looking for their Happily Ever Afters through Greyhounds As Pets. During a recent adoption event, however, Speedy was one of the few dogs still patiently waiting at the end of the day. Needless to say, hearts are breaking for the poor guy!

Aww! Speedy is such a handsome dog, and there's no doubt that he's going to make the right owner oh-so-happy. His snout is perfect for nose booping, and the way he sits is almost human-like! What's not to love?

This 5-year-old rescue dog is as chill as could be at his adoption event, and his shelter friends say this isn't out of the ordinary. On his biography page, @greyhounds_as_petsgapnsw describes Speedy as a "gentle boy" who responds well to positive reinforcement. He's a very well-rounded pup who loves tiring out with "short walks" and outdoor playtime just as much as he loves snacking and snoozing the day away.

He's just like any other dog! In fact, Speedy is seen more special thanks to his resilience and rescue history. This retired racing Greyhound is ready to enjoy the good life with an owner or family, and he may even make a great dog for kids thanks to his gentle and easygoing nature.

For anyone in Australia who's considering rescuing a dog, please look into Greyhounds as Pets. This nonprofit dog rescue helps place retired Greyhounds in their perfect homes, and they're always busy! Handsome boy Speedy is located in Wyee, but this organization alone has over 500 Greyhounds waiting for love across the entire country.
