Sacramento SPCA Offering Outdoor 'Paw-ties' For Children Ages 7-16

What a fun way to support an animal shelter!

Animal shelters across the country are overcrowded and underfunded--it's not exactly breaking news. That's why shelters are looking for new ways to interact with their communities and help pets find loving homes. Whether it's joining TikTok or hosting meet-and-greets with adoptable animals, there's really no way to go wrong.

The Sacramento SPCA recently had the idea to offer 'paw-ties' for kids ages 7-16, and we think it's going to be a hit! Even the folks at CBS News had to share the unique party idea with their viewers.

OMG--this looks like so much fun! Not only does a lucky group of kids (and their paw-rents) get to take a tour of the shelter, but they even get to meet some animals! The craft idea is the perfect addition, and families will love the parties' affordable price points.

For a birthday 'paw-ty' at the Sacramento SPCA, it costs $250 for a 90-minute event. This includes both the tour and the meet and greet, though the party can only contain 15 people or fewer. Any larger groups might be too overwhelming for the pets!

Alternatively, according to the shelter's website, $150 will get you a mobile party package. There won't be any tour of the facility if the party comes to you, of course, but the animal meet and greet will be just as amazing. The birthday child can choose whether they'd like a dog, a cat, or a small animal to make an appearance. Plus--a special birthday gift bag is included with both packages!

There are a few limitations for these events that you should know about. You will need to book them at least 3 weeks in advance, the website states, and you will be able to pick between a Saturday or a Sunday.

At this time the mobile party package is also only open to Sacramento County residents. Hopefully, other shelters will see this idea take off so it can be offered in other areas!
