Remember Disney’s Beauty and the Beast? No, not the 1991 animated classic, the 2017 live action film starring nearly all your faves — including Emma Watson, Emma Thompson, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Audra McDonald, Ian McKellen, Kevin Kline, Dan Stevens, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Josh Gad, and Luke Evans.

Disney *clearly* wasn’t messing around with this star-studded cast but according to Bill Condon, who directed the musical, a another A-lister was initially offered Mbatha-Raw’s role as Plumette in the production.

Earlier this week, Condon revealed to Yahoo! Movies that before Mbatha-Raw’s casting, he initially offered the “feather duster” role to none other than 22 Grammy winning icon Beyonce.

Condon, who directed Beyoncé in 2006 musical Dreamgirls was reminiscing with Yahoo! about the film and how it’s crazy that it’s the only musical film the singer has ever been a part of, a fact he was blown away by.

“Isn’t that weird? God, it seems crazy!” He said. Adding, “I even tried to get her into Beauty and the Beast, but it wasn’t a big enough part. She would have been a good feather duster.”

That’s right, Beyoncé was this close to playing the iconic Plumette in the live action musical but, unfortunately, the part was a bit small for the singer. While we’re a little disappointed that she passed, Mbatha-Raw was c’est magnifique as the flirty feather duster in the film.

While Queen Bey isn’t in Beauty and the Beast, we may see her in *another* Disney live action film. It’s been reported that the “Hold Up” singer is in negotiations to star as Nala in the upcoming live action The Lion King adaption, as well as produce the film’s legendary soundtrack.

C’est la vie!
