Welcome to Heat Check, a (semi)regular dose of much-needed style inspiration culled from the very best celebrity fit pics around.

Getting off a truly famous fit is generally a feat to be admired. Sacha Baron Cohen has achieved the feat—it's the "admiration" part that gets a little dicey. Because he didn't do it as Sacha Baron Cohen: Actor, Comedian, and Real Person—he did it as Borat. So if you can't look at him without seeing an ill-fitting gray suit or that mankini thing, I don't necessarily blame you. But it's time to move on. Because the real SBC is out here putting together low-key, well-fitting looks that should serve as spring style inspiration for any guy who wants to stay relatively safe while pushing the envelope just a bit.

Case in point: the outfit Cohen wore while out and about in Sydney with wife Isla Fisher this past weekend. It's simple—mostly. Cohen topped off a pair of slim (but not too skinny) gray pants with a tipped navy polo and a classic steel watch, and anchored the combo with white sneakers. Nothing too fancy. But then he threw on that most divisive of accessories, the brimmed hat. And, remarkably, he doesn't automatically look like he's going to start calling everyone "milady" while growing out his neck beard.

That Cohen doesn't transform from a highly accomplished, movie-making troll into the kind of troll that fires off sociopathic replies on Twitter from a dank basement truly is an admirable feat. But the reason the look works isn't particularly complicated. Thanks to the bang-on fit of the clothes—and their generally modern, not-overdone vibe—the hat reads as an accessory, not a prop. In other words: He isn't trying to be a Fedora Guy. He's just...wearing a fedora. Easy as that.

If you're looking to try the same move—and hey, man, why not?—just emulate SBC's chilled-out-but-pulled-together attitude and you'll be well on your way to success. Here's how to do it.
