Sabrina Carpenter Made Her Broadway Debut in the "Mean Girls" Musical

We know Sabrina Carpenter can sing, and we know she can act. Now she's doing both in front of a live audience… and her presence is anything but plastic.

On Tuesday night, the former Girl Meets World star made her Broadway debut in the Mean Girls musical as Cady Heron, the character who was, of course, made famous in the film by fellow Disney star Lindsay Lohan. Sabrina took over the Broadway role from Erika Henningsen, who ended her run in February.

As Cady, Sabrina is responsible for a number of the show's hits like "Stupid With Love," which she sings about forever hottie Aaron Samuels, and the epic finale "I See Stars." She'll be playing the role for the next three months, until June 7.

"You only get these opportunities so many times in life,” she told People back in February. “You get so lucky when you get to create something new that’s never been done before, and you fall in love with it as you’re making it. But coming into this already knowing that I’m such a fan? And saying every one of those iconic lines? I can’t put it into words; it’s just going to be so thrilling. It brings a whole new energy into it for me.”

Following her performance, Sabrina shared the exciting feelings of her Broadway debut, tweeting, "I made my broadway debut last night and my heart is FULL. [I] am here for a limited 3 month run which i am now deeply regretting the limited part cause this is so fun but please come out to see a show! all my love to this incredible crew. xo ur new baby cady heron." Even in her excitement, Sabrina is also reminding fans to stay safe amid the coronavirus outbreak — for her part, she tweeted that she won't be hugging fans at the stage door after her performances.

It was recently announced that the Mean Girls musical will be released as a movie in the near future. Fingers crossed for news of a Sabrina cameo — unlike fetch, maybe we can make it happen.
