Ahead of Sabato De Sarno's debut at Gucci — one of the most highly-anticipated events of Milan Fashion Week Spring 2024 — the brand released the designer's first campaign on Monday, for its Marina Chain jewelry collection.

De Sarno had teased the David Sims-photographed images back in August, drumming up excitement for his era at Gucci with the help of icon of the aughts Daria Werbowy. The two go away back, it turns out: They first met in 2003, when De Sarno was starting out at Prada and Werbowy was kicking off her modeling career.

According to a press release, "the campaign and those who brought it to life are a celebration of Sabato's debut in the world of fashion all those years ago, and of another debut, this time, at Gucci."

It's a full-circle moment for De Sarno and Werbowy as both enter a new chapter of their careers. Fittingly, the campaign feels stripped back in a nostalgic sense, with a stripped-down Werbowy posing poolside at the Chateau Marmont wearing nothing but the Marina Chain collection — which draws from an anchor motif first introduced in the late 1960s — and a Gucci hardware-branded black bikini bottom.

The brand teased a bit about the essence of De Sarno's Gucci in describing the campaign, noting that it's "a story that unfolds freely, but always meaningfully." We'll see more on Sept. 22.
