Most of the accommodation in Saas Fee is in hotels, including some very smart places. But there are apartments and catered chalets to be found in the resort as well.

Unless stated otherwise, prices are per person, based on two people sharing a double or twin room, half-board, including flights and transfers.

Budget

The three-star Hotel Europa is on a small hill with great views, a couple of minutes’ walk from the village centre. It runs a shuttle bus service to its ski room next to the slopes. The rooms vary from simple and rustic to modern, and it’s the only three‑star hotel in Saas Fee to have a wellness area, with hot tub, saunas and steam rooms. From £709 with Crystal Ski.

The Allalin apartments are modern, well furnished and located on the edge of the village, around 1,200m from the main gondola up the mountain. There’s a range of sizes, from studios to two-bedroom places. From £579 for a self-catered apartment with Inghams.

Mid-range

The Superior Scheizerhof is a modern, luxurious four-star hotel in a quiet location above the village centre, a five-minute walk to the lifts (or a short hotel shuttle ride). The large Feng Shui Wellness complex includes an indoor pool, outdoor salt water hot tub, six types of sauna and steam rooms, a gym and spa treatments. The Sunstar Boutique Hotel Beau-Site is a four-star with 39 individually designed rooms and suites, making use of local timber. The building dates from 1893 and is on the main street, a few minutes’ walk from the lifts. The small spa area is very stylish and has a pool with waterfall, murals, sauna, steam room and Aromarium, where you can inhale the vapours of various plant extracts. From £940 with Erna Low.

Expensive

The centrally located five-star Ferienart Resort & Spa is based on a building that first opened its doors to guests in 1883. In the century or so that’s elapsed since then, it has grown into a luxurious hotel with 71 varied rooms, suites and apartments with modern design – many of them with glass-sided bathrooms or baths in the room. Public areas are nicely woody in feel, and there are three different restaurants. The sumptuous spa area measures over 1,200sqm with a big pool, hot tub, steam room and a variety of different types of sauna. From £1,270 with Alpine Answers.

The charming Fletschorn is tucked away in the woods at the end of a long path – the hotel will ferry you to and from town and the lifts). A member of Relais & Chateaux, it exudes luxury and personal treatment and has fabulous original art on the walls. Public rooms are beautifully rustic, with lots of old wood and comfy armchairs and sofas to sink into, while rooms are modern and bright. The restaurant has a Michelin star and an 18/20 score in the Gault-Millau guidebook. From £1,595 (CHF 1,995) half-board, excluding flights and transfers.
