The first episode of I Am Cait opens with Caitlyn Jenner on camera wearing no makeup saying to the camera, “I just hope I get it right, I hope I get it right.” This debut epsidoe follows her as she meets everyone in her family, from Kim and Kanye to her mother as Caitlin. “I don’t think I have ever been more excited about life than I am right now,” says Jenner in the episode. “Living my true identity and hopefully going to make a difference in the world. That’s my mission.”

We meet Jenner’s stylist, a close friend named Ronda and her hair stylist, Courtney. These women are introduced as her support system — getting her ready to meet her children, siblings and mother for the first time, but also there as a day to day support.

When Jenner’s youngest daughter, Kylie, comes to the house to meet face to face for the first time, we see a new way of father-daughter bonding. Kylie Jenner ends up putting teal extensions (from her own collection with Bellami Hair line, of course) in her father’s hair. “I was looking at Google pictures of you when I was trying to pick the color but then you dyed it,” says Kylie.

Kim spends time going through Caitlyn’s new closet, sorting through her new wardrobe full of Tom Ford and DVF and not shying away from vetoing a blue striped dress. Before she leaves, she plots a “Who Wore It Better” moment between Caitlyn and Kris Jenner, who owns the same Tom Ford dress.

Throughout the episode, the camera focuses in on Jenner’s various nail polish shades: pink, red, and a pretty light blue. Jenner expressed wanting to finally be able to wear nail polish to the point where it chips off in her interview with Diane Sawyer and it looks like she is getting to do just that.

The hair extensions, Tom Ford, and nail polish aside, this first episode is full of heartwarming moments. From talking to her mother about the change, to reaching out to her other children, Jenner is open, honest and emotional about her new life. “I have a voice and there are so many trans people who do not have a voice,” says Jenner. “I can’t speak for them, because everyone has their own experience but I am an expert on my story.”
