  • Mark Consuelos has taken over for Ryan Seacrest as Kelly Ripa's new Live co-host.

  • Seacrest promised to leave behind the furniture in his dressing room.

  • But Seacrest also surprised Consuelos with a personal note, and a photograph of Steve McQueen.

Mark Consuelos began his first week as co-host of Live with Kelly and Mark this week alongside his spouse, Kelly Ripa. Consuelos is taking over for Ripa's former co-host, Ryan Seacrest, who had assumed the role from Michael Strahan, who himself assumed it from Regis Philbin.

And while there's no indication that assuming this mighty morning show mantle had any rites of passage from Regis to Strahan, or Strahan to Seacrest, we do know that Seacrest left behind some gifts for his successor, Consuelos, including one that caught him off-guard and inspired an emotional reaction.

Entertainment Weekly had previously reported that Seacrest intended to leave behind fully furnished digs for the man taking over his seat:

"He has the best setup in the world," said Ripa. "Because Ryan had the chicest dressing room, and he was like, 'I don't want to lug this out of here. Do you want it?' Mark was like, 'Yes, sir!'"

But Consuelos revealed exclusively to PEOPLE that, while he was expecting the furniture, there were a pair of unexpected surprises awaiting him as well on behalf of Seacrest. "He left me a beautiful hand-written note with a gorgeous photograph of Steve McQueen," Consuelos told PEOPLE. "It's going to go right there on the wall."

Though PEOPLE didn't clarify which Steve McQueen was in the photograph, we're going to assume it was the late American movie star of Bullitt and The Great Escape fame, and not the still-living British film director of the same name. (Though we'd happily take a photo of that Steve McQueen, personally. He made Widows, after all. Did you see Widows? Banger of a flick.)

As for what Seacrest wrote in the note, Consuelos kept the contents to himself, describing it only as "just a nice message of encouragement" from one Live host to the next. Interestingly, keeping the exact contents of a note from his predecessor private is also the same strategy Joe Biden has taken with a note he received from Donald Trump when the former stepped into the slightly-less-prestigious-than-Live-host role of President of the United States.
