Ahead of the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Marvel fans have been eagerly awaiting the return to Wakanda since. Director Ryan Coogler recently sat down with Cinema Blend to confirm the fate of Daniel Kaluuya's character W'Kabi after his defeat in the first film.

Coogler offered a clear answer to the mystery of one of Black Panther's secondary antagonists explaining, "Yeah, he's basically banished, but still in Wakanda's borders. Yeah, does that make sense? So, there's one line [in Wakanda Forever] that refers to him still being alive." The update gives a valuable explanation to the character who fans saw defeated in the last film when he was held at spearpoint by his own wife.

W'Kabi's banishment was a direct result of his actions when he was skeptical of king T'Challa's rule. He was later manipulated into treason against Wakanda down the line when he joined Erik Killmonger to wage war against his own people. Kaluuya announced this summer that he wouldn't to return to the sequel film, but did not give a reason at the time.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits theaters on November 11.
