This Rustic Country Cookout Wedding Is Making Us Reassess Everything

Every now and then a wedding comes along that makes us totally question our dream vibe. Case in point? This casual affair in Hood River, Oregon. Simple, rustic and peppered with tons of handmade touches, this barn-side celebration featured family-style dining, keg refreshments and watering can floral arrangements (to name a few adorable details). Ready, set, swoon with us, y’all.

FLOWER ACCESSORIES

How pretty is the bride’s lone-dahlia-tucked-in-braid situation?

COUNTRY BOUTONNIERES

And how sweet are these little wildflowers wrapped in twine for the groomsmen?

DAHLIA DECOR

Wooden crates loaded with summer blooms were sprinkled throughout the venue for pops of color.

ALFRESCO DINING

It doesn’t take much to make a big impact: Twinkly lights, open pasture, white linens, done.

SIMPLE CENTERPIECES

The epitome of cheap ’n’ chic: Recycled bottles filled with a few focal blooms.

RUSTIC ALTAR

A log altar with a white-curtained backdrop was placed inside the barn for the ceremony.

INFORMAL ATTIRE

No dress code, no problem. (Bring on the cowboy hats!)

SWEET ESCORT CARDS

This delightful touch doubled as a party favor: Homemade local honey.

FAMILY-STYLE FOOD

Write out your menu on a chalkboard, set up a help-yourself buffet and skip the fuss and expense of table waiters.

FRESH EATS

With simple white linens and minimal florals, colorful foods can build up your tablescape beautifully.

CUPCAKE BAR

In lieu of a traditional cake, various cupcakes were served on rustic wood palettes.

REPURPOSED VASES

We love these galvanized metal watering pails filled to the brim with colorful dahlias.

COUNTRY COCKTAIL TABLES

Aged wine barrels? The perfect surface solution for cocktail hour.

FUSS-FREE BOOZE

Keep things easy (and ahem, not too sloppy) by sticking to beer and wine.

PRETZEL SNACK BAR

Post-dance floor munchies are the realest.

SUMMER BLOOMS

Dahlias, wild roses, wax flower, astilbe—we love it all.

FRESH-PICKED ACCENTS

You can never have too many mini vases.

NON-TRADITIONAL FOOTWEAR

Now that’s the country take on something blue.

A RUSTIC SETTING

Gosh, we love a good barn wedding.

GALVANIZED ACCENTS

When you throw your wedding on a farm, utilitarian objects can double as thoughtful décor additions.

DINNER HOUR

We really just dig the vibe here: Lovely, cozy and totally unpretentious.

FAIRY LIGHT OVERLOAD

We’ve said it once, we’ll say it again: If you’ve got tons of twinkly lights, the rest is (cup)cake.
