'RuPaul's Drag Race' Is Returning for Season 16

Winter is coming, and while that occasionally means White Walkers descending from the North to slaughter your civilization, it also means a new season of RuPaul's Drag Race is on its way. MTV renewed RuPaul's herstoric drag queen competition for a 16th season following the success of Season 15, which means a whole new crop of contestants will be sashaying into the Werk Room to fight for the crown.

Who will be competing? Which judges will return? Will The Real Friends of WeHo screw with the schedule again? We will find out in the coming months. Here's everything we know about new season so far:

What is the release date for RuPaul's Drag Race Season 16?

We don't have a premiere date for Season 16 yet, but the last three seasons have all premiered the first week in January, so it's likely that Season 16 will drop in early 2024.

Who is in the cast of RuPaul's Drag Race Season 16?

No official cast has been announced yet. The cast list, along with the season's trailer,  usually drops in the weeks right before the season begins.

How many seasons of RuPaul's Drag Race are there?

Fifteen seasons of the U.S. version of RuPaul's Drag Race have aired. This will be the 16th season. There have also been eight seasons of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars and dozens of international seasons.

How do I watch RuPaul's Drag Race Season 16?

Like Season 15, Season 16 of RuPaul's Drag Race will air on MTV with episodes made available to stream on MTV's website the next day. Episodes will not arrive on Paramount+ until months later.

Will RuPaul's Drag Race Season 16 include Untucked?

Yes. When MTV announced that Drag Race was renewed, they also announced a new season of Untucked to accompany it. Untucked will likely air on MTV after episodes of the regular show.

How long will episodes of RuPaul's Drag Race Season 16 be?

MTV has not announced the length of Season 16 episodes, but they will most likely be 90 minutes each with a 30-minute episode of Untucked to follow. Season 15 began with shortened hour-long episodes to accommodate The Real Friends of WeHo, but after intense backlash from the fans, the 90-minute runtime was reinstated. When Season 15 dropped on Paramount+, all episodes had been recut to be 90 minutes.

What time will RuPaul's Drag Race Season 16 air?

MTV has not announced the airtime yet, but if it follows past seasons, it will air at 8 p.m. ET on Friday nights with Untucked following at 9:30 p.m. ET.
