Runs, rides and the Rise: What to do in West Michigan this weekend

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Rapids is the epicenter of so many great events this weekend but there are also plenty of others to check out across West Michigan.

Here is a look at what you can do the weekend of May 10:

47th annual Amway River Bank Run

The largest 25K road race in the United States is back for a 47th year this weekend.

The Amway Riverbank Run is taking place this Saturday with more than 10,000 runners expected to participate in one of the races. News 8 will have extensive coverage on race day.

Whitecaps hosting hot dog eating contest

The West Michigan Whitecaps have won three games in a row and plan to give fans quite the show this Saturday.

Not only will you get to see some great baseball at LMCU Ballpark, but afterward you will be able to see a qualifying event for the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest.

Regular season finale for the Rise

The Grand Rapids Rise have clinched a spot in the first-ever Pro Volleyball Federation postseason but there is still one more chance to catch a game at Van Andel Arena.

The final home game for the Rise will be this Sunday against the Omaha Supernovas. That match is set to begin at 5:30 p.m.

But before the Rise hits the floor, comedian Katt Williams will shut down the arena on Saturday night.

Williams is bringing his “The Dark Matter Tour” to Grand Rapids for a night full of laughs.

The JW Marriott Grand Rapids invites you to experience a taste of Nashville without leaving West Michigan.

This Saturday at Bronson Park in Kalamazoo is the annual Bicycle Show.

Friday and Saturday will be busy for card collectors as the Southwest MI Spectacular Card Show is back.

Shooting fundamental class in Hastings
