Running has undoubtedly made me a better soldier, father, and husband. I have found a simple way to push myself beyond what I thought were my limits, building an unbreakable mind and mentality. It is an outlet that clears my mind and has the awesome effect of getting or keeping me in shape, which is vital to the success of my job.

I joined RW+ because of the awesome running workouts and the supportive community that comes with it. I’ve gotten the magazine for years now and figured I could step it up one notch.

I run because it was originally something that I was not good at and is a way for me to change the way soldiers think of running if they actually do a proper running workout and program. I enjoy seeing their mindset change towards running and seeing them get the benefits running brings that is so much more than just physical.

I run around the frigid Fort Drum but truly enjoy running in the New Hampshire White Mountains and the Adirondack high peaks when I can get away. I really love the trails and mountains; there’s just something about the changing environment and views that make me fall in love with the trails. A side benefit is the trails force me to slow down.

I’ve fully jumped on the Hoka and Salomon bandwagons. I wear mostly Salomon clothes and almost solely Hoka shoes. I just find that they produce the best products that work for me. My go-to shoe is the Hoka Speedgoat and Rincon.

I actually failed my first ever Army PT test run at Norwich University where I could not run two miles in under 16:00 minutes. Now I usually get under 13:00 minutes which gives me max points. I also used to be a power lifter, not a skinny runner! Most people don’t really believe that for some reason.

To complete a 100 mile race and do one of the famous ultras (Western States, Hardrock, Leadville). Also, to spread the multiple benefits of running to as many people as possible!
