I read in a magazine that running would improve my fitness for basketball in high school. I have been running ever since. I took a road racing class in college and the coach said I had talent. For me that was enough. I walked onto the NDSU (North Dakota State University) cross country team but my college career was cut short because of an injury. Upon graduation from college I joined the US Army. I served a total of 10 years in the Army Reserves and the Army National Guard. I qualified and became a National competitor for the Texas Army National Guard Marathon Team. I competed for three years with the Army.

Another amazing opportunity while serving in the Army was qualifying for CIOR International Joint Service Military Pentathlon Team taking me to Norway and Denmark to compete against other NATO countries. Running has opened so many amazing opportunities in my life. I have taught numerous running classes at Texas A&M University for the last 27 years. I have been a running coach for first time marathoners. It’s safe to say running has and will always be a big part of my life!

To keep myself informed and I enjoy reading it!

I always know that when I finish my run I will feel better! It’s easy to make excuses not to run. But then I miss out on the runner’s high or just the great feeling of completing the run. I tell this to my students all the time! I have never regretted donning my shoes and completing a run. Never! I will always felt better.

My favorite route was one I ran in college (so a very long time ago!) through the woods in the snow. I live in Texas now and the woods are not nearby and there is no snow. But, I can lose myself in a run and be happy wherever I am. If I could step out my door into the woods, that would be blissful!

I love these these running tights by Curves N Combatboots. They don’t ride up when you run. Fabletics makes good running tights as well. That is my 2 cents.

I love to scuba dive! I love to hike preferably long, long hikes and I want to do this wherever I travel. Also backpacking!

To keep running as long as I can, injury free!
