Running has changed my life because it has helped me connect with positive people chasing personal goals. As I’ve gotten older, I want to not just live a long life, but an active one. I run with the San Antonio Road Runners, and our mission is “Improving Lives through Running”. I have made so many friends through our club–from people just starting to run for the first time, to folks in their 70s! It truly is a sport for everyone. Running helps me improve how I feel about myself and the person I want to be. I became an RRCA running coach to help others find their love of running like I did!

I joined to connect with a global community of like-minded folks! Runners are some of the most positive and encouraging folks I know. I look forward to seeing what runners of all ages accomplish—it inspires and motivates me when I’m not “feeling it.”

I run because I want to feel stronger and more confident than the day before. Even on the runs that don’t go the way I hoped, I still feel a strong sense of accomplishment. I remind myself that “future me” feels awesome after a run, even if “current me” isn’t feeling it right now.

Running through downtown San Antonio in the early morning is always a special treat. Running on quiet city streets, seeing the Alamo in the early morning light, and feeling like I have the city to myself is a pretty awesome feeling!

My favorite running shirt that I got in Atlanta from Big Peach Running—the RUNATL logo is so cool, and on the back it says “Hills, Heat, and Humidity—Welcome to Atlanta!” Running in San Antonio is much the same way. I recently got some Samsung Galaxy Buds+ wireless earbuds to use while running, and they are incredible—very lightweight, great sound, and battery lasts forever.

I play Roadkill Bingo with several runners in our group on long runs–we always look to see what ends up on the side (or middle) of the road! When coaching our running groups, I’m known for saying “It’s OK to hurry!” as folks slowly gather up to talk about our Saturday Long Run. I’m the guy with a dry sense of humor that will try to get a laugh out of everyone.
