I signed up for Grandma’s Marathon in 1993. Training for and finishing 26.2 miles at 15 years old gave me the confidence to try other things in life and realize that anything is possible if you put forth the effort.

I have been a reader of Runner’s World for a long time. I became a member to hopefully be introduced to the next George Sheehan. To find the inspiration and feelings all runners experience, but only Dr. Sheehan has been able to put into words.

I run for challenges, I run for play, and to find my true self. Has anyone ever said it better than Dr. George Sheehan—Out on the roads there is fitness, and self discovery, and the persons we were destined to be.

I love running gravel roads around Goose Lake, where I will encounter more animals than people or cars. I can just enjoy my run and become lost in thought if I so choose.

I have been running in Asics Gel Kayano for 12+ years. I love how easy my Garmin Forerunner has made recording training runs. Although I’m not ready to give up my hand written training journal.

My wife has become my dietician, always adding veggies to my plate. According to her I eat like a toddler. Isn’t having a poor diet allowed as a runner? Haha!

I have always wanted to be part of the 50 state marathon club, but more importantly I want to continue running until the day I die.
