I ran cross country in high school while racing road bikes up through college. I switched back to running full time seven years ago due to lack of time with three younger kids. Running became my escape when my daughter was diagnosed with leukemia at only 14 months old (survivor now at 7 years old). I used running to get through the hard times. I’m now on a run streak approaching 1,300 days (started Feb 2017) and over 4,600 miles, with no plans to stop.

I’ve been a reader of RW for years and want to help friends (and family) get their running careers started. I use the site and the magazine for advice and for the inspirational like-minded individuals.

I run because I can, no excuses. I run for the kids (and my daughter) I saw battling cancer. They inspire me to not make excuses just because I don’t feel like it. I run to see what I am capable of in the hopes that I may also inspire others to lace up their shoes.

I run anywhere I can, typically all road. The freedom of running and getting out there specifically during this pandemic allows me to clear my head. It doesn’t matter as long as it is outside, never on a treadmill.

My Asics GT-2000 (gone through 17 pairs over the course of my run streak) and Garmin watches (Forerunner and Fenix series).

I will also slow down (or attempt to speed up) and run with anyone if I can give them some pointers or just have a chat to eat up some miles.

To keep going. Cycling was my passion, now I put running with it, side by side. I want to see how long and how far I can go. I might even go back to marathons after the pandemic is over. I also want to become a running coach so I can help others increase their fitness and health that I have gained over the years. More importantly, the joy (sometimes the pain) of being out there and accomplishing a goal or setting a PR.
