Running has become a big part of our entire family’s life. I started running when I was 45. A good friend told me I needed to do something for bone density (I was swimming five days a week) since I wasn’t getting any younger. I started running and haven’t looked back. Now, my husband and I travel to run, three of our four daughters run, as does our son. It is not unusual for our family dinners to include stories about our daily runs, what race is next, and where the best place to run is.

I run for myself. After battling breast cancer in 2019, running is even more important to me. I am so thankful to be able to head out and just move. My next goal is to get my pony tail back!

We live about a mile from beautiful Forest Park. You can run on gravel and paved paths, roads, and even a little bit of single track trail. The park has hills, flats, and several waterways. Around sunrise it is not unusual to see a bald eagle fishing in the stocked lake. It is always fun to see the many runners and cyclists out, no matter the weather.

My Garmin Fenix is my go-to piece of gear. I love tracking my runs and what changes from day to day.

I am definitely a morning runner! I love to get up and head out as the sun is just coming up.

My goal is to travel to new places to run, whether to race or just to a scenic route.
