I used to be around 230 pounds (I’m 6’4”) and heading towards diabetes. Both my parents, and grandparents were diabetic and it motivated me to improve myself. 20 years later I’m 185 pounds and feeling very healthy. My wife and I also modified our meals after our sons moved out. Less takeout and fast food; more home-cooked meals.

I love reading the daily articles that feed my inbox every day. I’m a running geek so I love reading everything going on in the industry.

Yes, I get the runner’s high and that is a nice goal, but the main feat is that I find a way to never miss a day running. It has become a daily part of my life — like walking the dog.

I run very early in the morning. I’m generally on the road by 5:00AM (CT). I usually run for one hour (except for weekends when I’m doing my long runs). I also cross train at work five days a week. The sessions usually last 30 minutes.

I run in Busse Woods in Schaumburg. It’s our Central Park in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. Fantastic trails and an elk pen.

I’m a running geek so my favorite gear is my Apple Watch. I cannot do a run or even cross train without it.

I’m almost finished with the 6 majors. All I have is the Tokyo Marathon. I had hoped for 2020 but didn’t get in so I’m keeping a candle lit for 2021.
