I started running when I was 15 years old, my sophomore year of high school. I had played softball when I was younger, tried basketball, but I wasn’t very good at either. I had a ton of fun playing the team sports because of the friends I made, but I never was really skilled. When I joined winter track and started sprinting, everything suddenly made sense! I had found my sport, and began a lifetime of running!

I have only had a few short running breaks in my life and have run consistently since I was 15. In 2019, I was picked to run the Boston Marathon in a lottery through my company, and raised funds for a charity to be able to participate. A runner that already committed had suffered an injury and with two months to the race I was asked to join the team. In February 2019 I began my training including the long runs that I have attempted to try for a number of years! I finished the Boston Marathon in 4 hours and 6 minutes (not sure how many seconds). Highlight of my running career!

The training tips, plans, and inspiration from other runners.

Running quiets my mind that is constantly thinking and over thinking everything in my life. I’m high energy; running helps me feel balanced. I know going for a run on a bad day will help me start to try and turn the day around to something positive.

I usually run on a busy street, but recently I found a side street off of my usual route that brings me down to a farm with horses and big open fields and on a good day the new route has brought me joy to see the animals hanging outside.

My Brooks Adrenaline 19 sneakers...though they are becoming harder to find, I may have to start looking again, or try the 20s. The cushioning in the sneakers is something I need to fight off Plantar Fasciitis.

I played the violin for over 20 years.

I would like to train for another marathon in another city.
