I began running after suffering back pain and having a life of little exercise. In 2015, I ran a mile a day in February, eventually running a half that autumn and my first NYC marathon in 2016. I’ve now run 11 marathons including the six majors, become a coach, found new friends through North Brooklyn Runners, and spread the joy of running with basically everyone and anyone!

I have read Runner’s World since my first day running and it’s been a constant source of information and inspiration. I’m always happy to pay for more of both those things!

I love being a tourist! It’s great to go somewhere new, around the world or just on a different block. You’ve worked hard on that patch of earth which with you now have a different connection. Nothing else really gives that sense of satisfaction.

I run NYC constantly and we’re spoiled with running spots here. My favorite is still the BMW bridge run over the East River (Brooklyn bridge, Manhattan bridge and Williamsburg bridge). It’s as beautiful as it is challenging! Tons of elevation and some incredible views.

Tracksmith gets way too much of my paycheck—their singlets are phenomenal! That said, there’s nothing quite like putting on my North Brooklyn Runners gear before a race.

I never ran until five years ago. I lived in eastern Kenya 11 years ago, and so wish I knew enough then, of what I know now, to have realized how close I was to such greatness! I plan to go back and run a marathon next year and make up for lost time.

To keep getting a little faster while never losing the love for running!
