I have lost about 80 lbs. while becoming more physically fit, stronger, and I now experience greater enjoyment of life. When I began focusing more on a healthier lifestyle, I was able to walk little more than one mile. I learned about wearing the proper socks and shoes the hard way, after suffering minor injuries. Slowly, and as I gradually lost weight, I was able to jog portions of my 2 to 3 mile walk. Eventually, I could run 3-5 miles. I have become healthier, happier, and addicted to running and other forms of exercise like lifting weights. My goal is to attain my high school weight. I am about 30 lbs. away from attaining my goal. I wish to run when I am in my nineties.

I seek to gain more knowledge about an active lifestyle, learn from others, understand more about proper gear to limit injury and I,prove my health long term.

I run to live. I feel diabetes is right behind me and I can not allow it to catch me. I also seek an exercise high!

I run early in the morning when it’s quiet and I am alone in my thoughts. Sometimes I run in the evening depending on my schedule or in the heat on weekends. I enjoy the exercise paths and jogging through the local fairgrounds. I prefer the dirt there rather than concrete sidewalks or paved roads. I love to listen to my Spotify workout play list while working out. I also imagine, day dream or plan enjoyable activities.

I am focused on good running shoes and have owned Asics, Brooks and Nike running shoes. Currently, I run in, and really like, Nike Joyride Flyknit shoes for their great comfort. I am careful to dress properly, protecting most of my skin from the sun with hooded running shirts, arm sleeves and head gear such as a skull cap and beanie or baseball cap. I feel better wearing running wear that gives me pride or happiness while working out.

My goal is to hike the Rockies and run regularly well into my 90’s!
