Running has given me the competitive edge again in my adulthood. High school sports were such a major part of growing up. I knew something was missing once I graduated from college and started a family. Getting married, having children and enjoying an occasional drink meant that my body was not where I wanted it to be. Running was the push to get back out there and compete. It also taught me the healthy side of eating. Running and dieting go hand in hand. My dream job is to retire from teaching and open up a healthy restaurant.

To always be in the “know.” I loved the RW magazine, but found the emailed articles hit closer to home several times a week. They were more personal.

I run to push my limits. It’s all about personal satisfaction. The joy it brings me when I reach a new PR is captivating. Running can be hard, but the feeling of having a workout in while 90% of the world is sleeping is just a great feeling.

I run in the early mornings, 4:30 a.m. I lace up, throw on a headlamp and head for the local streets. I head to the weight room to lift weights two nights a week. I run in my hometown, mostly on paved roads where I can use the street lights to light my path. Once it’s daylight out, I love to head to the paved country roads and take in the wildlife, sunshine and calm winds.

My favorite piece of running gear is my Headsweats Visor. I love to pull my hair up into a messy bun and head out for a run.

My running goal is to regain speed and get back to the quick feet I had in 2016. I was setting records so often; it was just who I was at the time.
