I think it is so important to make time for yourself, even when life is hectic. Running has helped me prioritize my health and wellness above all else, and maintain overall balance in my life. Not only does it keep me fit, but it gives me a sense of ambition and discipline that I can’t get anywhere else.

To meet other runners who love the sport as much as I do. And to learn new workouts that will help me make cross training a bigger part of my routine.

Running is “me time.” I go first thing in the morning so that I feel like I’ve already done something for myself by the time the workday starts. Whenever I have a hard time getting out the door, I remind myself that I never feel worse after a run. It’s a great form of meditation that keeps my brain and body healthy.

I am inspired by the many accomplishments of elite athletes: Meb’s 26 marathons, Eliud breaking 2 hours, Shalane’s and Des’ wins in New York and Boston, respectively. I replay their wins on YouTube whenever I need a boost.

I also enjoy competing in challenges with my friends. We keep each other motivated through the RunKeeper app and comment on each other’s map art.

Rhode Island is a great state to be a runner because wherever you are is within 30 minutes of the city, the woods or the coast—or, if you’re lucky, all three. The variety of routes helps keep things interesting.

I also travel a lot for work, so I like to log miles in each of the cities I visit. One time, I logged Central Park (NYC) and Fisherman’s Wharf (SF) in the same week! Running is a great way to beat jet lag.

Finally, I love to run through cemeteries. Maybe that’s weird, but I find them so beautiful and peaceful. I always say a prayer for my loved ones when I pass through.

The Run Fast, Eat Slow cookbook series. They really changed my life. My mood, energy and (bonus!) complexion noticeably improved since I cut back on processed foods and tried the wholesome, nutrient-dense recipes in this book. The Superhero Muffins, Race Day Oatmeal and Ginger Molasses Granola are a few of my favorites (I also recommend Dani Spies’ Clean and Delicious channel on YouTube.).

I’m also obsessed with my New Balance Fresh Foam 1080 v10s. I was skeptical at first because they are so different from the older model I was used to wearing, but now I don’t know why I ever doubted them. They are super plush and lightweight—and pretty, too! My pair is called “Lemon Slush.” I usually dress pretty “safe” for my corporate job, so I like to go bold with my running apparel and footwear!

I met my fiancé at a running camp in New Hampshire 13 years ago and we are getting married this fall! He is taking some time off from running due to an injury, but still enjoys the sport by biking with me on my long run days.

I have several! Right now I am focused on maintaining consistency in my routine so that I keep running through the New England winter (I am a morning runner, so it is always so much harder when the sun rises late and the temperature is low). I also want to improve my 5K time and run a half marathon when in-person races resume. Long term, I would love to run the London Marathon some day!
