Euphoria is no more, say the latest rumors.

Season 3 of the hit teen drama was due to start filming in May, but according to reports, those plans have now been scrapped.

An article on entertainment scoop website World of Reel claims Euphoria season 3 is “not happening. They had plans to shoot it this summer, but that fell through and on Friday they told the cast that they could free up their schedules for other projects.”

This begs the question: why? It might be because most of the core cast now have significantly higher profiles than when they first joined the show.

Jacob Elordi, Colman Domingo, Hunter Schafer, Sydney Sweeney and Austin Abrams are all bona fide movie stars who’ve headlined some of 2024’s biggest films.

And let’s not forget the biggest of all, Zendaya, who already had two Marvel Spider-Man movies under her belt before playing troubled drug addict Rue Bennett in Euphoria, and has since starred in Dune: Part Two, which has grossed half a billion.

“I was already amazed that Levinson had managed to get all of the talent involved back, given their busy schedules,” writes World of Reel. "Many of the show’s actors have now turned into movie stars…The plan to reunite all of them for a third, and final, season has clearly failed.”

The first two seasons of Euphoria are currently airing on Hulu and Max.
