There’s recently been speculation that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry could make a surprise return to the United Kingdom next week for a party to honor Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana. Said party was previously supposed to take place after Diana’s statue unveiling but had to be postponed due to coronavirus restrictions.

According to The Sun, Meghan and Harry were “weighing up” whether to join Prince William and 100 guests, including Sir Elton John, and a source told the outlet, “No one knows what Harry’s decision is, but there are rumblings that he may come with Meghan and their two children.”

However, The Telegraph reports that Meghan and Harry won’t be making the trip, writing, “A spokeswoman for the Sussexes confirmed on Saturday that the duke would not be in attendance.”

Aside from Sir Elton John, guests will include Diana’s friends, relatives, and former staff members as well as donors who helped fund the statue of Princess Diana that both William and Harry unveiled.

It’s unclear when Meghan and Harry will return to the United Kingdom, but royal expert Robert Jobson somewhat dramatically told Us Weekly recently, “I’m not sure Meghan will ever come to Britain again.” He also speculated about whether or not the Sussexes will be in England for the Queen’s upcoming Platinum Jubilee, saying, “We have to wait and see.…Harry, I’m sure he thinks he’ll be there.”

On top of this, there have been rumors that Meghan and Harry are hoping to christen their daughter, Lilibet, in England, with a source telling Daily Mail over the summer that Harry made his “intentions clear” and “told several people that they want to have Lili christened at Windsor, just like her brother. They are happy to wait until circumstances allow.”
