Motherhood comes at you fast, and it’s not uncommon to wake up one day and realize that months (years?) have gone by without you stopping to breathe. Rumer Willis is praising the benefits of “slowing down” in her latest Instagram post, and the message is so good.

“Spent the most glorious 5 days at @canyonranch for a week of wellness, connection, self discovery, integration and self care,” the Sorority Row actress wrote on Instagram, tagging Canyon Ranch Wellness Resort. The model, who is mom to 11-month-old Louetta “Lou” Isley with partner Derek Richard Thomas, escaped to the resort with actress friend and fellow mom Nikki Reed.

“I have been reflecting on how long it has been since I have been able to nourish my mind and body, everything I have been doing the last 11 months has been to give everything of myself to Lou and help her to grow and thrive,” Willis continued. “What a gift it was to be able to slow down and fill up my cup with the help of my amazing community.”

It is so important to take care of yourself! And while every mom isn’t able to afford a five-day getaway at a luxury wellness retreat (I wish!!), you can still find accessible ways to help yourself slow down and feel refreshed. Maybe that looks like a long bath and a glass of wine after the kids go to bed, or a good book while your partner tackles the kids’ bedtime routine. Or maybe you can get a babysitter to spend the day doing your favorite activities with your mom friend. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to nourish your mind and body!

During Willis’s getaway, she utilized the help of her former Nanny to watch Lou. “@nannymadison was my nanny when I was a little girl starting at 3 years old and generously offered to come with me to help me watch Lou so I could enjoy the glorious spa and fill Lou’s imagination with all the magic ✨ she filled mine with as a young girl,” she wrote.

The Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actress also wrote a note to her Twilight star friend. “@nikkireed my sister, I love you. Being on this journey of motherhood together is such a joy and gives me such strength,” Willis said. She added, “Sharing stories of teething and late night breastfeeding, I love your tiny humans and would care for their hearts as I do my own sweet tiny Lou.”

The pictures include beautiful snaps of Willis and Reed at the resort, a selfie of Willis pumping, and a picture of baby Lou relaxing in a crib.

“I love you that was so special 🥹❤️ and I love our baby bangs😂!!!!!!!!!!” Reed commented, referring to the postpartum baby hair that is growing on both women’s heads.

“Beautiful mamas!!!” Willis’s sister Tallulah Willis commented. Jenna Dewan wrote, “So fun !!”

While moms don’t need an excuse for needing a little relaxation time, Willis certainly has more than enough reasons for one. Especially after her “challenging” travel day that she experienced with baby Lou earlier this month.

Willis revealed that her and Lou “missed” their flight and had to wait 3 1/2 hours for the next one (which was later delayed) on her Instagram story. While she was waiting, she answered a few fan questions. One person asked how she was feeling, and Willis responded, “Tired, happy, more capable than I thought. I am learning and growing so much right now. I feel so cracked open and grateful and also feel overwhelmed at times and challenged but the thing I feel more than anything is love.”

She added, “Lou is the most amazing being so full of joy and love and surprises me every day.”

Someone else asked how she finds peace, and she responded, “Learning to pause, slow down, don’t run from my emotions give myself the full expression and then try to let go.”

It seems like Willis is following her own advice, which will help her feel more rested and rejuvenated for the next crisis. That’s motherhood!
