Rumer Willis

Rumer Willis is feeling empowered by her new mom strength.

The eldest daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore—who gave birth to her first child back in April—recently found herself relying on her mom super powers while she and her infant daughter, Louetta, were both sick with the flu.

The 35-year-old mom reflected on the rough week in a new Instagram post, highlighting the "strength of Mamas" and feeling grateful for "this incredible gift of resilience and love" that got her through the difficult experience.

In the sweet set of photos, Rumer and her 6-month-old baby—whom she shares with boyfriend Derek Richard Thomas—could be seen cuddling up in bed together as they recovered from the illness at home while most of their friends and family were out of town.

"The flu took both my Lou and me simultaneously, and it brought not just symptoms but moments of doubt," she wrote in her caption, as she recalled wondering, "Could I manage taking care of her and myself in this weakened state?"

But through what she called a "storm of uncertainty," Rumer explained that she "discovered an uncharted strength" that she didn't even know she had.

"The resilience I summoned in the face of a common challenge mothers everywhere deal with truly showed me so much about myself and my capacity," she wrote, adding, "As the flu raged on, it became clear that I was more capable than I ever thought."

Rumer went on to say how proud she is of herself for navigating the challenging time while also realizing the importance of giving herself "grace," which she believes all mothers deserve.

Despite being "lucky enough to have the most easeful and wonderful postpartum experience" as well as a "miraculously easy baby," Rumer insisted that "this past week magnified how challenging navigating some of the difficult moments that come up during the postpartum period, especially without community and support."

"That's why I stand proudly with @Needed, advocating for better postpartum support, maternal health, and community," she concluded the post, also tagging Needed, a health and wellness website dedicated to motherhood.
