I have a confession to make. I'm writing this article while wearing sweatpants—the same sweatpants I just wore to the pharmacy and the grocery store, and to grab coffee with a friend. Three years ago I never wore sweats in public, but now it's all I do. Sweatpants are my new jeans, and I've never felt more alive.

If I’m turning heads, it’s not because I look sloppy. (That’s just the people in tight corduroys trying to figure out how to cop my swagger.) When sweatpants become your uniform, you lose the ability to get angry. You just skip around, completely unrestrained.

Okay, I'm kidding—but wearing sweatpants outside my apartment has drastically improved my life. For a while, I thought this was impossible. My favorite pair of joggers was reserved for sick days and Netflix binges. But I was wrong: It turns out you can wear sweats to social events if you do it right. The five celebrities below can help you master the craft. You're about to be so comfortable—and stylish.

Gigi Hadid

Hadid's sweats—worn with a jacket tucked in—are part of an entire monochromatic ensemble, down to the shoes. It makes the pants feel more intentional, ergo more appropriate for lunch with a friend.

Halsey

The same rule applies to Halsey's sweatsuit look from the 2019 MTV EMAs, which was serving major early-2000s vibes.

Beer's slightly cropped, slim-fit pants and matching shrunken hoodie—also cropped—look crisp.

Olivia Culpo

The sneakers are key here. Culpo's chunky sneakers keep the hems of her pants from dragging. And, in high-low at its finest, she paired her sweats with a Chanel bag and Louis Vuitton luggage.

Whitney Port

Further proof that going monochromatic makes your sweats look better when you’re running errands. Port kept her sunnies and bag minimalist as she called Lauren Conrad to say they should've worn sweatpants in every scene on The Hills. (That’s just a guess, but it’s probably true.)
