Ruby Rose Reveals She’s In a Wheelchair After Undergoing Spine Surgery

Model Ruby Rose may seem the picture of health, but as the Orange Is the New Black star revealed in a series of new social media posts, she’s actually been struggling with some serious medical issues for some time. In fact, she recently underwent a major surgery that has left her recovering in a wheelchair!

“For the past few years (decade) I’ve been dealing with a spine issue,” she wrote on Twitter. “I am now recovering from a back procedure, but I do need to stay active, so before I get seen with my cane and wheelchair in public, I’d rather put it out there that I’m fine and going to be fine.”

Rose, 31, also shared a photo of herself in a wheelchair while wearing a a t-shirt reading, “strong female lead.”

While she didn’t elaborate on the type of spinal issues that plagued her, she did go on to say she what she would be doing in her down time (hint: Nintendo Switch), and she’s looking to none other than known gaming geek Chrissy Teigen for advice.

“What I need to know now is when I’m not wheeling around LA like a 102 year old, what movies, shows, books and video games do you suggest?” she asked. “I’m buying a switch…I’m looking at you @chrissyteigen what games should I get?”

Rose also revealed an unexpected bonus to her surgery — the super-fit star says she’s had to quit smoking, and by the sounds of it, it’s long overdue for her.

“I’m done! I’m finally done,” she celebrated. “That filthy, smelly, dirty, slowly killing you while you pay for it to suffocate you, is finally out of my life. I quit yesterday. And for my back (and Mum) I’ll never start again.”

Bright side!
