The last few days have been intense, to say the least, for gays on the internet who stan Nicki Minaj, Megan Thee Stallion, or even both. Somehow, though, Orange Is the New Black actor Ruby Rose got caught in the middle of the chaos and is now trying to defend herself.

If you don’t follow female rappers too closely, you might not know that a certain level of animosity had been growing between Minaj and Thee Stallion for a few years. Even though they collaborated on the viral song “Hot Girl Summer” back in 2019, things seemed to get a bit sour when Thee Stallion and Cardi B dropped “WAP” in 2020 and it became one of the biggest hit songs in recent history.

It’s unclear if Thee Stallion and Minaj started having problems before or after Thee Stallion and Cardi B dropped “WAP,” but one could see that the two rappers were no longer on great terms.

For instance, Minaj seemed to be throwing shade at Thee Stallion in the Pink Friday 2 track “FTCU,” which includes the line:

“Stay in your Tory lane, b*tch, I’m not Iggy.”

On Friday, Jan. 26, Thee Stallion dropped a new single titled “Hiss,” and fans immediately interpreted it as a direct diss to Minaj. While there’s potential shade-throwing throughout the song, the line that stood out the most to listeners is, “These h*es don’t be mad at Megan, these h*es mad at Megan’s Law.”

For context, Megan’s Law is a federal law that enforces the public sharing of information about registered sex offenders. A Genius annotation about this line in “Hiss” reads:

“This is likely a shot at fellow artist Nicki Minaj, whose husband, Kenneth Petty is a registered sex offender after pleading guilty at age 16 to attempted rape. In July 2022, he was sentenced to a year of house arrest for failing to register at his new address after moving with Minaj to California.”

An alleged leaked Instagram Story post from Rubi Rose, a 26-year-old rapper, model, and OnlyFans creator, surfaced online. In the alleged post (re-shared by X user @ambitiousspeech), it appears that Rubi Rose wrote the following about Minaj:

“Nicki Minaj evil as f*ck. Only option to marry was a pedophile, b*tch evil, pretty in the face but body botched as f*ck, evil spirit ass b*tch, old as f*ck tryna keep up, ozempic really saved her big back self. Beefing with these young girls so lame, bi*ch washed... youre 40..... Take care of papa and your drug addiction.”

It bears repeating that this Instagram story talking about Minaj was allegedly shared by Rubi Rose, a 26-year-old OnlyFans star. However, certain fans misinterpreted the post as having been shared by Ruby Rose, the 37-year-old actor best known for Orange Is the New Black, Batwoman, xXx: Return of Xander Cage, and John Wick: Chapter 2.

This confusion led Ruby (with a "y") to share posts on Instagram Stories defending herself from fans who are ruthlessly attacking her under the impression that she is Rubi (with an "i"). They wrote in a post:

“I have a ‘Y’ in my first name, not an ‘I.’ I never thought I’d see the day when I was being flooded with death threats for involvement in rap beef. I do not post about rappers on my close friends story [laughing emoji]. I assure you my close friends list is never used for anything but more dog photos.”

Ruby added, “I don’t know much about the inner workings of the rap world, period. You have the wrong person. I toured with Nicki for her whole Australian tour and I have never met Megan but she also seems great.”

Ruby Rose then shared a screenshot of a hate message she received from one of the fans attacking her. This person messaged Ruby with:

“Don’t you DARE come for Nicki again… you say that you love her in interviews but drag her on your close friends story +++ YOU ARE A TERRIBLE ACTOR AND THE MAKKS ARE COMING FOR YOU.”

Ruby wrote in the Instagram Story, “I don’t even know what MAKKS are but I guess I’ll grab my throwing knives and archery set. Let’s go. If this is about ping pong… I’m out.”

In one final — and more lighthearted — Instagram Story, Ruby Rose shared a message sent to her by photographer Conor McDonnell.

“Can confirm the dog photos [laughing emoji],” McDonnell wrote.

Ruby added, “Justice at last.”
