The Royals Reportedly Haven’t Reached Out to Meghan Markle or Prince Harry Following Their Car Chase

The royal family reportedly did not reach out to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to check in following their terrifying paparazzi car chase in New York City.

A source tells Page Six that none of Harry’s relatives—including King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Kate Middleton—have contacted them, while royal reporter Omid Scobie tweeted on Wednesday that “spokespersons for both King Charles and Queen Camilla and Prince William and Princess Kate have declined to comment” and added, “I understand that no member of the royal family has reached out to the Sussexes since today’s news broke four hours ago.”

Meanwhile, the Palace went ahead and commented to Us Weekly that it’s not commenting (which…kay), literally saying, “This is not something we’re commenting on.”

Harry’s spokesperson confirmed details of the chase in a statement on Wednesday morning, saying, “Last night, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Ms. Ragland were involved in a near catastrophic car chase at the hands of a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi. This relentless pursuit, lasting over two hours, resulted in multiple near collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians, and two NYPD officers.”

They added, “While being a public figure comes with a level of interest from the public, it should never come at the cost of anyone’s safety. Dissemination of these images, given the ways in which they were obtained, encourages a highly intrusive practice which is dangerous to all involved.”
