Royal Wedding Attendees Are Actually Auctioning Off Their Gift Bags on eBay

You could own a piece of history.

Like all good hosts, Megan Markle and Prince Harry didn't send guests of the royal wedding home empty-handed. Those members of the public with official invites to Windsor Castle grounds walked away with official royal wedding totes monogrammed with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's initials and filled with commemorative shortbread, a royal wedding-themed chocolate coin, and a magnet, among other trinkets, all in a blue-and-gold color scheme, according to The Sun.

But if you weren't there in person to watch the happy couple make things official this weekend, you might still be able to get your hands on this piece of memorabilia: Some of the exclusive totes are already popping up on eBay. One royal gift bag currently being auctioned off on the site already has bids above £1,020 (about $1,200).

But before you get angry about royal wedding guests profiting by selling off pieces of the day to the highest bidder, at least one of the eBay sellers did include the caveat, "I forgot to mention all money raised will go to charity." Not all the auctioneers are as altruistic, though. One eBay listing that has hit bids upwards of £7,300 (a little more than $8,500) makes no mention of giving the profits away.

This Today video, below, shows you exactly what's inside these royal wedding gift bags.

A snap from one of The Sun's tweets gives you a closer look, as well.

Several people on Twitter voiced their disapproval of royal wedding guests selling their gift bags online. "It should be an honour and a privilege to get invited to something like this and yet some people want to capitalise from it. Parasites!! Its stuff like this that puts me off people," one person wrote.

Another person, who presumably attended the wedding, wrote, "I will treasure my Royal Wedding gift bag forever, I can't believe people are selling," alongside of pic of her with her bag.

Even if you can't afford to bid on that priceless royal shortbread, there are still plenty of ways you can look back at the royal wedding now that the festivities are over. You can flip through, and swoon over, the official royal wedding photos. Or start working on perfecting your own version of Markle's messy wedding bun. It's never too late to get your royal wedding fix.
