The royal family has just released the most insanely adorable photos for Prince Charles's 70th birthday
Charles, Prince of Wales, is surrounded by his family in two new photos, released to celebrate his 70th birthday on Nov. 14, 2018.
The pictures were taken by Chris Jackson of Getty Images on the grounds of Clarence House. They show the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall sitting on a bench with Prince George, 5, sitting on his grandfather’s lap and Princess Charlotte, 3, next to Camilla.
Sons William and Harry stand behind them, with Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle by their sides. The Duchess of Cambridge holds Prince Louis, who’s 7 months old, in her arms.
“I was delighted to have been asked to take these official portraits of the Prince of Wales surrounded by his family to celebrate the important milestone of his 70th Birthday,” Jackson said in the press release. “It was particularly special to capture such an informal and relaxed family portrait over a fun afternoon!”
In the first photo, the royal family is perfectly posed, looking directly into the camera. In contrast, the second shot is more candid and shows the family laughing and looking more relaxed. The Duchess of Sussex, who is pregnant with her first child, is smiling broadly while Camilla puts an arm around Charlotte and appears to be pointing to something.
Everyone’s clothing was clearly carefully considered. The royals coordinated in shades of blue, white and navy, with the Duchess of Cambridge wearing a polka dot Alessandra Rich midi dress (the same design that actress Abigail Spencer wore to Meghan and Harry’s May wedding). The Duchess of Sussex is sporting a minimalist white and navy Givenchy number.
William and Harry both opted for a suit without a tie, while their father stands out in a blue striped suit and light blue tie.
Camilla is elegant in a cream V-neck frock with two-tone pumps, while Charlotte, next to her, wears one of her familiar print smock dresses with navy blue buckle-up shoes. Little brother Louis grins in his mother’s arms, wearing a white shirt and light blue shorts.
This is the first time the family has been seen all together since Prince Louis’s christening in July. The queen is reportedly hosting a lavish bash at Buckingham Palace to celebrate Charles’s milestone birthday on Wednesday night.
Festivities to mark the occasion began earlier this summer, when Charles threw a garden party at Buckingham Palace for his staff and to celebrate the work of his charities.
