The Royal Family, Elton John and More Pay Tribute to Late British Drag Queen

The beloved comedian suddenly passed away yesterday.

Beloved British TV host Paul O'Grady has died. He was 67. 

The comedian, also known for his drag queen alter ego Lily Savage, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Mar. 28, according to statements shared by his husband, Andre Portasio.

Several tributes flooded in for the late British drag queen, including accolades from "Rocket Man" crooner Elton John who took to Instagram to share a throwback photo of him and Savage.

"Saddening news to hear of Paul O'Grady's passing this morning," he wrote in the caption. "A brilliant entertainer, wit, and supporter of LGBTQ+ rights and the fight against AIDS and HIV who I was fortunate enough to spend time with including when he hosted @davidfurnish's and my Stag Party before our Civil Partnership in 2005."

"Thank you for all the joy you brought into the world, Paul. You went places nobody had gone before and we will miss you very much," he concluded.

Ted Lasso actress Hannah Waddingham also posted a tribute on Instagram, writing, "Can’t quite believe he’s gone. A mighty trailblazer and the loveliest,naughty soul."

She continued: "You are already so missed Paul. What a privilege to have known you,received the full warmth of that sensational smile and been able to witness your genius in the flesh. Thank you,for all of you. Rest now Sir❤️💔🤍."

The Royal Family paid their respects to the late comedian as he worked closely with Queen Elizabeth II before she passed in Sept. 2022.

"Deeply saddened to hear of the death of Paul O’Grady, who worked closely with Her Majesty in support of @Battersea, providing lots of laughter and many waggy-tailed memories," The Royal Family wrote alongside a photo of him and the Duchess of Cornwall.

Kim Cattrall also added to the list of notable celebrities who paid tribute to the comedian. 

The Sex and the City actress shared a video from when she appeared on the comedian's talk show, The Paul O'Grady Show.

"Our hearts are broken 💔 RIP Paul xo @paulogrady," she wrote alongside the video of her hugging the comedian as she walked out for an interview.
